Professional writing is a very important skill for an engineer, and is often used for drafting a technical proposal, preparing a summary report, writing an email or letter to other parties, etc., it is also a Scheme “A” requirement that young engineers shall record his/her work via logbook, which requires writing skills. Young engineers often have difficulties with writing in a professional manner. Writing skills to fulfill the requirements of the training scheme, projects and experience reports to prepare for their professional assessment are required.
This workshop aims to provide young engineers with guidance on effective writing skills, key points to note in logbook writing, report writing and presentation, as well as tips for professional writing in English.
Experienced coach will be invited to share:
· How to structure and present a report
· Example of topics
· Tips and examples on professional writing
· Common errors
Ir Dr FC Chan is the Past President of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He is an Electrical Engineer and throughout his career, he has been involved in various management activities, including business process re-engineering, quality systems management, contingency planning and procurement. In 2001, he obtained the Master of Arts in English for Professions with Distinction. He has published over 60 papers and won the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Transactions Prizes in 2003 and 2007.
