Programme
Highlights
For historical reasons, many remote villages in
Hong Kong have lost its population to the city and overseas. Without a resident population, some villages have
seen their houses decaying rapidly, which in turn discourages the return of
indigenous villagers. There is a real
risk of these villages disappearing, together with the loss of invaluable
cultural assets. This seminar will
examine this problem and discuss what might be done to revive rural communities
in remote villages. The projects at Lai
Chi Wo 荔枝窩will be presented as examples.
Speaker
Mr Lam
Chiu Ying (林超英) is Chairman of the Environmental Campaign

of the Hong Kong Countryside Foundation, he is the initiator of the village
revival efforts at Lai Chi Wo.
