(OD2026 Series) Technical Webinar on AI-empowered inspection and maintenance

Date, time & venue

2026-04-10;19:00-20:30;Online via ZOOM

Programme Highlights
The technical webinar explores how integrating artificial intelligence with unmanned aerial vehicles is transforming infrastructure inspection and maintenance by significantly enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and safety. Through advanced imaging, automated defect detection, and real‑time data analytics, AI‑enabled UAV systems allow engineers to identify structural issues earlier, reduce reliance on manual inspections, and implement predictive maintenance strategies that optimize asset management and operational performance.

This seminar will introduce to young members:
  • AI-enabled Infrastructure Inspection
  • Intelligent Maintenance and Asset Management
  • Resilient and Smart Infrastructure Development
  • UAV-based Data Acquisition and Monitoring

Speaker(s):
Dr. You Dong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). His research is strategically positioned at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and smart O&M, with the goal of transforming conventional construction and infrastructure practices into autonomous, data-driven, and resilient systems.

His work focuses on developing AI-powered robotic solutions for the design, construction, inspection, and life-cycle management of civil assets exposed to deterioration, extreme hazards, and climate change. By integrating machine learning, embodied AI, computer vision, and robotic perception with engineering mechanics, he advances intelligent decision-making frameworks that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability across the construction lifecycle.

Dr. Dong’s research group specializes in construction robotics, autonomous inspection and maintenance systems, physics-guided and multimodal deep learning, and digital twin–robot integration.

Registration & Enquiries
This webinar is free of charge, and the number of participants is limited to 400.
