Highlights
The construction industry globally contributes
significantly to energy consumption and carbon emissions, accounting for 36% of
worldwide energy usage and 40% of CO₂ emissions.
In alignment with the Paris Agreement, Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2030+
has defined a carbon emissions target, aiming for an absolute carbon reduction
of 26% to 36% by 2030. Specifically, the construction industry is expected to
achieve an 11% reduction relative to business-as-usual levels by 2030.
Sustainable construction represents a crucial dimension in mitigating the
industry's impact on the environment, society, and economy.
Since its opening in 2012, the CIC–Zero Carbon Park (CIC
- ZCP), Hong Kong's first zero-carbon building, has functioned as a living
laboratory for state-of-the-art eco-building design. It continuously refines and optimizes its
technological applications. Additionally, it serves as an exhibition,
education, and information hub. The CIC-ZCP raises awareness of the importance
of green building design locally and internationally and aspires to boost the
public’s ecological value and live a low-carbon lifestyle.
ZCP focus on the following design strategies: -
Active Systems, Passive Design, Renewable Energy,
Landscaping, Microclimate and Water Management Systems, Local Carbon
Construction and Materials.
We invite you to join us for a guided tour designed to
enhance your understanding of sustainable construction. This is also an
excellent opportunity to connect with fellow junior professionals who share
your enthusiasm for sustainability and the environment.
