Programme Highlights
Sustainable construction materials are vital components in building
practices that aim to minimize environmental impact while promoting resource
efficiency and long-term durability. These materials, which include recycled
metals, sustainably sourced timber, bamboo, and low-impact concrete
alternatives, are designed to reduce waste and energy consumption throughout
their lifecycle. By incorporating sustainable materials, the construction
industry can significantly lower its carbon footprint, enhance the health and
comfort of indoor environments, and contribute to the resilience of
communities. The shift towards sustainable construction not only addresses
pressing environmental challenges but also fosters innovation and economic
growth, paving the way for a more sustainable built environment.
With over 32 years of experience in tall buildings, Ir Dr. Goman Ho is
an Arup Fellow and the former global leader of the Arup Tall Buildings Skills
Network, as well as the regional leader for the Seismic Skills Network. His
expertise will shed light on the importance of sustainable materials in the
construction industry and present innovative solutions that can substantially
reduce environmental impact. Attendees will gain valuable insights into
sustainable construction materials and their practical applications.
