Programme
Highlights
Nuclear
power plays a significant role in the energy portfolios of many countries,
providing a reliable and low-carbon source of electricity. In Hong Kong,
nuclear energy imports from Daya Bay meet approximately 25% of the electricity
needs. The electricity import agreement has been in effect for approximately 30
years. To achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and reduce carbon dioxide
emissions, it is expected that coal-based power generation will gradually be
replaced with more zero-emission clean energy including nuclear power.
This visit offers
participants the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of one of
China's most prominent commercial nuclear power stations, including its power
generation process and commitment to safe operations. By exploring the museum,
training center, and Daya Bay port, visitors will delve into the intricate
workings of this impressive facility.
Logistics
Transportation and
lunch will be provided. Participants will be picked at Kowloon Tong.
