To alleviate the shortage of land supply in Hong Kong, the development of caverns has received priority in being one of the key initiatives in recent years. A few pilot projects on the relocation of existing Government facilities including Shatin Sewage Treatment Works and Public Works Central Laboratory into caverns have been initiated.
In this webinar, the speaker will discuss the design of caverns based on his experience in the two aforementioned projects, as well as other cavern and tunnel projects. He will discuss the structural design and development on the layout and size of underground excavation, and the associated design considerations to be taken in the design process.
