To kick off Young or Ready Series of
this Session, YMC and Building Services Division had jointly organized a seminar
which was successfully held on 22 October 2019. Ir Felix Chan from the Building
Services Division shared his route in becoming a professional engineer with
over 40 young engineers.
The event began with a sharing by
Ir Chan on his working experiences and the different challenges he encountered
in his professional career. He encouraged young engineers to gain wider
exposure in the industry to equip themselves for the professional assessment.
Moreover, Ir Chan also shared some tips on how to be better prepared for the
professional assessment. He also discussed the competence-standard in
professional assessment such as technical knowledge, professional engineering judgement
and problem solving skills are also key assessment criteria. He urged young
engineers to strive for the rationale behind technical knowledge and practices.
Apart from the sharing, young
engineers had a fruitful Q&A session with the speaker and sought advice for
professional assessment and career development.
On behalf of the HKIE-YMC and all
participants of the event, we would like to express our appreciation to Ir Chan
for his insightful sharing, guidance on the way to HKIE Corporate Membership
and time devoted to make this seminar a successful one.
