Programme HighlightsBeing the first wet food market in the history of Hong Kong, the Central Market is listed as a Grade III historic building. Under the Conserving Central initiative, the Urban Renewal Authority has set up the Central Market Revitalisation Project to rehabilitate its structure and regenerate the market. The revitalised Central Market will retain its features including the atrium, external facades, grand staircases and market stalls, while providing space for affordable cultural and retail uses.
In the visit, participants will be given a tour at the revitalised Central Market to know more about this historic building and how the significant elements are preserved to enhance visual permeability. Through the tour, the participants will also explore how the historic building is revitalised in the ever-changing urban development.
