Webinar on What We Talk about When We Talk about NEC and Project Management? (Jointly organized with ICE-HKA G&S)

Date, time & venue

2021-03-11;19:00 - 20:30;Webinar

Programme Highlights

This webinar will investigate the invisible problems that prevent successes the government longed for when they decided to use NEC 10 years ago.

There have been a lot of hopes and sceptics about the use of the NEC contract when it was introduced, and when people started using it. After 10 years of application, there had indeed been successes as well as problems in the use of this contract. There are two major issues observed that are clear and imminent nowadays:

1) Practitioners find this Contract logical and useful but there is an equal sense of discontent about its inefficiency.

2) While small successes are widespread, the same performance and sense of satisfaction in the pilot contracts repeated in the current use of NEC are not seen.

What went wrong in the process?

The speaker will examine and discuss these phenomena with the participants and with the hope to find out the cause of these issues. Hewill also search for a new insight with the participants that can help dealing with the future challenges in infrastructure developments in Hong Kong.
