Programme Highlights
Built in 1902, Ohel Leah Synagogue serves as Hong Kong’s primary Jewish centre.
The building was crafted in an Eastern Jewish style, with two storeys and a balcony on the upper floor for female disciples. In 1998 it underwent UNESCO award-winning restoration and is now preserved as Grade I historic building.
Of the city’s five mosques, Jamia is the Hong Kong’s first, which was built in 1840s and extended in 1915. Also known as Lascar Temple, the mosque is of rectangular shape, with an arched main entrance and Arabic-style arched windows on all sides.
By visiting these temples, we will lead our fellow participants to step out and discover heritage of Judaism and Islam existence at Hong Kong, and ways to preserve the historical religious buildings.
