The HKIE – YMC and CPDC had jointly organized a workshop on business etiquette and attire on 10 November 2018. The workshop was delivered by Miss Angel Pang, certified image consultant of the Association of Image Consultants International. Attendance of 30 participants was recorded. The aim of this workshop is to help young engineers to present themselves in a business setting and build up a professional image.

At the beginning of the workshop, Miss Pang emphasized the importance of building a good personal image because one will never get a second chance to make a first impression to a person. It was therefore important to create a professional image in a business setting. Miss Pang then shared some tips on eye contact, smile, handshake and exchange of name cards with demonstrations. She also presented ways of starting a conversation and the “don’t” in a conversation.

In the second part of the workshop, Miss Pang had shared the knowledge of dining etiquette, the use of utensils in table set up and introduced the adaptation of various types of dress codes in different occasions. The workshop was closed by an active Q&A session which participants had risen questions on the scenarios they had faced in real life situations.

On behalf of the HKIE – YMC, we would like to thank Miss Pang for delivering a lively and interactive workshop to our young members and our participants for their active participation during the workshop.
