The Omicron variant spreads more easily and faster than earlier Covid-19 variants, which results in dramatic increase of infection cases and the outbreak of fifth wave pandemic in Hong Kong. Staying indoors without proper protection appears to have higher risk of infection, including eating in dine-in premises and staying home quarantined with neighboring persons who obtain positive test results. Therefore, it is important to understand scientifically the indoor bioaerosol transportation mechanism and the ways to ensure effective indoor ventilation. The requirements of air exchange and suggestions on spatial arrangements at the dine-in premises and households will be discussed. The role of ventilation will further elaborate in preventing pandemic widespread.
