Programme HighlightsIn engineers’ life, there are many goals which young engineers want, but
may find it hard to achieve. How to train up a positive mindset to overcome the
negative attitude to accomplish more? This workshop will focus on how to live a
flourishing life in a psychological perspective.
This workshop
will introduce to young members with the following ways to achieve a
flourishing life:
- Identify
your and others’ character strengths and make appropriate use of them to
achieve your goal.
- Accept
both negative and positive emotions and find ways to turn negative emotions
into positive ones.
- Develop
growth mindset and perseverance in facing failure and have alternative
interpretation of accomplishment.
- Formulate
your meaning of work and meaning of life.

Dr. KWOK LAI Yuk Ching Sylvia, Associate
Professor
Dr. Sylvia Kwok is an Associate
Professor in the Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the City
University of Hong Kong. Her research mainly focuses on the family ecological
and positive psychological factors that are related to anxiety, depression and
suicide of children and adolescents. She has published over 60 papers related
to children and adolescent mental health problems, parenting and positive
education in high-impact international refereed journals. She has been granted
various teaching awards by local universities.
