This is my great honour to serve as the Chairman of the YMC for Session 2023/2024. I would like to first express my heartfelt gratitude to all Past Chairmen for their successful leadership, to our Committee Members, Co-opted Members, Event Coordinators, helpers, and all members for their continuous support for the YMC.

The theme of YMC for this session - "Enlightening Beyond Our Horizon" inspires us to broaden our perspectives, embrace new ideas, and transcend the constraints of our own experiences through connecting and learning.

Having served the YMC for more than 10 years, I believe YMC can become a successful platform to nurture young engineers and connect them within and beyond Hong Kong. We will continue to organize activities to help broaden our perspectives and stimulate new ideas with concerted efforts. We arrange visits and delegations, both locally and abroad, to expose our members to new insights. We host distinguished speakers from a variety of fields, who share their insights and experiences with us. We connect our professions to the community through facilitating social services.

As young engineers in this technological era, we are facing grand challenges that are constantly reshaping the landscape of our profession. To succeed in this dynamic environment, the ways to embrace the challenges are to put forth our best efforts in continuous professional learning. We must be willing to look beyond our usual horizons. We must keep abreast of emerging technologies and develop a global mindset. We shall lead the change and be the change.

By venturing beyond our horizons, I am confident that we can unlock new sources of inspiration and build avenues for collaboration that can shape the future of engineering. Let us embrace this journey of discovery together and explore the limitless potential that lies ahead.

Together, let us enlighten beyond our horizon.
