It is my great pleasure to be elected as Chairman of the HKIE Young Members Committee (YMC) for Session 2025/2026. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our past Chairmen for their outstanding leadership. My sincere thanks also go to our Committee Members, Co-opted Members, Event Coordinators, helpers, and all members of YMC for their unwavering support.

Throughout my journey with the HKIE and YMC, I have been fortunate to receive countless opportunities to explore new horizons, challenge myself, gain knowledge and exposure, and collaborate with people both inside and outside the Institution. These valuable experiences have shaped my determination to foster growth and development among our young engineers.

Looking ahead to the coming session, our theme will be “RISE UP, SHINE ON.” Here, RISE (Resilience, Innovation, Sustainability, Equity) resonates with the HKIE’s year theme to “Together, We RISE.” Meanwhile, SHINE (Skills, Horizon, Ingenuity, Networking, Excellence) represents our commitment to helping young engineers acquire the essential attributes to excel as future leaders.

Our SHINE framework guides this vision:

• S – Skills: Enhance both technical and soft skills through visits, seminars, and workshops,
• H – Horizon: Broaden perspectives by joining overseas and mainland delegations.
• I – Ingenuity: Cultivate innovative thinking by serving on Organizing Committees for flagship events.
• N – Network: Build lasting connections across different sectors of the engineering industry through networking activities.
• E – Excellence: By developing these four qualities, we can strive for excellence and truly rise up to shine on our own stage.

This year, with the support of our experienced members and the fresh energy of new blood, I am confident that the YMC will continue to advance its mission and better serve our members. All of our events will become even more meaningful through your active participation and support. I look forward to meeting you and exchanging ideas at the upcoming events.
