Young Members Committee - Session 2024/2025
Chairman’s Message
By Ms KAM Wing Sum, Keiko
It is my great honour to serve as Chairman of the YMC
for Session 2024/2025. I would like to first express my heartfelt gratitude to
all Past Chairmen for their successful leadership, to our Committee Members,
Co-opted Members, Event Coordinators, helpers, and all our members for their
continuous support of the YMC.
Throughout my journey in the HKIE and YMC, I have
received countless opportunities to explore and challenge myself, and to gain
knowledge and exposure to the engineering profession and the Institution.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the YMC, I have
selected "Empowering Talents Uniting Communities", as the theme. It
speaks to the core of our mission - to cultivate the next generation of
engineers and empower them to make a lasting impact, as well as emphasizing the
YMC as the nexus of Hong Kong young engineers.
In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, the
need for innovative, socially conscious engineers has never been greater. Through
our society, we provide a dynamic platform for young engineers to sharpen their
skills, explore cutting-edge fields, and forge meaningful connections with
like-minded peers. Looking back, we have created many flagship events - the
Overseas Delegation, Young or Ready Series, Leadership Training Camp etc. By
empowering each individual to embrace their unique strengths and passions, we
cultivate a vibrant ecosystem of problem-solvers, dreamers, and change-makers.
Our vision extends beyond individual growth. I believe
that by uniting these exceptional talents, we can tackle the most pressing
challenges facing our communities. From sustainable energy solutions to
inclusive infrastructural design, our members are poised to bridge divides,
foster collaboration, and drive lasting, positive impact. Together, we will
harness the power of engineering to build a more vibrant, resilient, and
connected world.
With our experienced members and new blood in the YMC
this session, I am confident that we will bring great insights and continuous
improvement to the YMC and better serve our members. May I take this
opportunity to appeal for your support and active participation in our 40th-anniversary
celebration, and to work together to contribute to our engineering society by “Empowering
Talents Uniting Communities”.
